The Spanish R&D+I Observatory (ICONO) of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) generates and rigorously analyses the most current information in relation to the main regional, national and international strategic indicators of science and innovation.
ICONO results from the need to measure the evolution of indicators related to science and innovation, which allows objective data to be contributed on the evolution of the productive model towards an innovative economy. FECYT’s R&D+I Observatory helps us to understand, be held accountable and advance in a planned way in improving the Spanish Science, Technology and Business System (SECTE).
- It provides objective indicators on the evolution of science and innovation in Spain.
- It summarises the main R&D+I strategies at a national and international level.
- It disseminates the State R&D+I Plan 2013-2016, as well as the results of its calls.
ICONO: What does it mean for me?
Senior ministers and their teams find information about science, technology and business that they can use when making public R&D+I policy decisions.
Agents of the Spanish science, technology and innovation system
In ICONO, science, technology and business agents find the best and most complete information possible on science, technology and business that they may need in order to understand, with a complete overview, what is occurring within this system.
Citizens find, in a very simple, dynamic and accessible way, how public R&D+I resources are used, as well as their impact on the economy and on society.
In ICONO the media have a permanent platform for analysing and monitoring the actions financed and executed in science, technology and innovation in Spain. Furthermore, they find indicators and studies with recent reference data on R&D+I at a regional, national and international level.
