FECYT is the national coordinator of EURAXESS, an initiative launched in 2004 by the European Commission in support of mobile researchers in which 40 countries currently participate. EURAXESS provides support on practical issues that incoming researchers face when arriving at the country.

The Conference “Career alternatives for researchers” took place on April 5th in Valencia. The aim of the meeting was to present to participants the different career paths that a scientific training and expertise can offer –from the lab to science policy, science dissemination or entrepreneurial activities.

The First Joint Meeting of Spanish Scientists in the United States was held in Washington DC in September 2015. The report on the meeting, that gathers the abstracts and bios of the speakers, together with the main highlights of the conference, has just been published by FECYT.

Last March 11th, the University of Copenhagen (ITU) hosted the meeting 'Meet the scientist', organized by the Society of Spanish Scientists in Denmark (CED-SFD).

The Industrial Engineer and Software Testing Manager in the British communications company Metaswitch, Ernesto Abad, visited the Spanish School Vicente Cañada Blanch in London on 2nd March 2016.

FECYT has coordinated the elaboration of the “High level policy recommendations to foster researcher career development in Europe” with the contribution of experts.

On the 8th February 2016, Mathematician Francisco A. González Redondo and Lecturer of History of Science in the Universidad Complutense de Madrid visited 14-18 years-old students in the Spanish School Vicente Cañada Blanch.

Last 25th January 2016, the bioengineer Ana Mercedes Campos Marín of the University of Sheffield visited 14-18 years-old students in the Spanish School Vicente Cañada Blanch in London, as part of the second session of “Science in the Classroom”.

The Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) wishes to increase participation among researchers affiliated with foreign R&D institutions in the Agency’s Bank of Collaborating Experts run by the Coordination and Evaluation Subdivision (SCE), with the aim of enriching the Spanish evaluation system thanks to the various international perspectives and experiences that could be brought by these researchers, who undertake their work under the premises of other R&D&I systems.

Last 14th December 2015, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs of the Spanish Embassy in London, launched their programme “Science in the Classroom”, by which a scientist or an engineer per month will visit 14-18 years-old students in the Spanish School Vicente Cañada Blanch in London.
