FECYT held on October 24 the fifth technical conference of the Science Diplomacy Network in Madrid. Gathered at the CIEMAT (Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas) responsibles for scientific affairs at 17 embassies could get further knowledge about the Spanish map of Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructures (ICTS).

The exhibition FOTCIENCIA13 opened Last July 12th in the Spanish Embassy in Berlin with the presence of more than one hundred guests. This exhibition shows for the first time outside of Spain the 49 finalists of the contest of scientific photography organized by FECYT and CSIC.

The chapter in North Rhine-Westphalia of the Society of Spanish Scientists in Germany (CERFA-NRW) celebrated last June 20th its third annual symposium “Women in Science”. The event was organized by the young scientists Dr. Tania Romacho, Dr. Raquel Fiz, and M. Sc. Cristina Murcia.

The Society of Spanish Researchers in Ireland (SRSI) started to walk last June 8th 2016 at the University College Dublin.The association, which began with preparations in 2015, formalized its launch with the words of its president, Ignacio Martin-Loeches.

Last May 12th the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) attended in Brussels the presentation of a new European project convened by seven European countries and coordinated by the Institute for European Studies (IES) in Brussels: The European Leadership in Cultural, Scientific and Innovation Diplomacy (EL-CSID).

FECYT participates in the project EURAXIND to strengthen the EURAXESS services for the private sector and to foster intersectoral mobility. This project aims at reinforcing the services EURAXESS can offer to organizations and researchers in the private sector, with the objective of supporting intersectoral mobility.

The programme “Ambassadors for Science” aims to bring closer distant fields such as science and diplomacy by a shared experience of scientists and diplomats. The first session opened a debate focused on the necessity of more science outreach and the development of scientific advice for better policy-making process.
