Opportunities for researchers and calls in Spain and Europe

Tuesday, April 10, 2018

Last Friday, April 6, the Association of Spanish Researchers in the Italian Republic (ASIERI) brought together Spanish and Italian researchers at the Tor Vergata University in Rome.

The session, co-organized by ASIERI and the Dipartimento di studi letterari, filosofici e di storia dell'arte (ALEF) of the Università degli Studi di Roma "Tor Vergata", counted with the collaboration and support of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the Ministry of Education of the Embassy of Spain in Italy.

During the session the participants had the opportunity to learn about calls and contracts available to carry out research in Spain and Europe in the different stages of the research career.

Firstly Silvia Valentini, representative of the Agenzia per la Promozione della Ricerca Europea (APRE), generally  described the Horizon 2020, the framework programme for the financing of R&D&I in Europe, to later describe in detail the main actions for the recruitment of researchers: Marie Skłodowska Curie and European Research Council.

Next, Cristina Gracia Rodríguez, representative of FECYT, presented the EURAXESS initiative, a resource to support the mobility of researchers in which to find both job offers (EURAXESS Jobs, https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/search) and all that information that researchers may need to move to a new country.

Likewise, and through the "Science in Spain" collection, she made a detailed presentation of the different calls and opportunities in force in Spain for hiring researchers.

This session is framed for FECYT in several of its lines of activity: support for associations of Spanish scientists abroad, promotion of Horizon 2020 and the European initiative EURAXESS; as well as the Spanish R&D&I system abroad.

Jointly organized by the Association of Spanish Researchers in the Italian Republic (ASIERI) and the Dipartimento di studi letterari, filosofici e di storia dell'arte (ALEF) of the Università degli Studi di Roma "Tor Vergata", the organization had the collaboration and support of the FECYT and the Ministry of Education of the Embassy of Spain in Italy.
